BATHURST (GNB)The provincial government is investing close to $450,000 in capital improvements at two schools in the Bathurst region, École secondaire Népisguit and Superior Middle school.

“Your government recognizes the importance of having safe and healthy infrastructure in place at all schools across New Brunswick,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny. “Our students need great schools so they can become part of a generation of engaged citizens and life-long learners who have the skills to build bright futures by contributing to society and the economy.”

The 2018-19 capital budget includes investments of $105.8 million in schools. Of this, $18.35 million will be capital improvement funds to help provide students a better chance to learn and be at their best.

The government’s 10-year education plans aim to improve educational outcomes and better prepare young people for the future. They set objectives in priority areas to create lifelong learners, support educational leaders and bring stability to the system.

Since 2015, nearly $300 million has been invested to create safer schools and better learning environments across the province and to build new schools in regions where they are needed.
