Stage 2 Follow-up Program Year 6 Results: Executive Summary

The Conditions of Approval (COA) for the Modifications to the Petitcodiac Causeway Project (the Project) require that particular environmental conditions and parameters be monitored following the gate opening (Stage 2).

The Follow-up Monitoring Program Terms of Reference (TOR) for all stages of the Project was submitted to the Technical Review Committee (TRC) established by New Brunswick Department of the Environment (NBENV) to oversee the project from the regulatory perspective.

The TRC is comprised of representatives of various provincial and federal agencies including, though not limited to: NBENV, New Brunswick Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Environment Canada and Transport Canada. The TRC reviewed the TOR which was subsequently made available to the general public prior to commencing the Follow-up Monitoring Program.

While the TOR contained the scope of factors to be considered in the Follow-up Program, more detailed information regarding the methods specific to undertaking each component during each stage of the Follow-up Program were included in the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Follow-up Program Plans, also reviewed and approved by the TRC. ...more
