The New Brunswick organic sector continues to grow and is highly diversified with over fifty-five businesses that are currently “certified” organic”. Organic vegetable and maple syrup producers represent a large part of this sector. There are also several organic food and non-food processors in the province. The ultimate goal of the organic production system is the preservation of the environment and the production of healthy and safe foods. Practitioners follow specific growing, handling and processing standards from the soil to the consumer's table leading to the production of "certified" organic products.
