Hi there! We are the coalition working in Saint John to bring the Planet Youth project to our corner of New Brunswick. Planet Youth is a substance use prevention initiative that works by providing support in four areas to increase protective factors in the community. These areas include: peers, family, school, and hobbies and activities. By increasing protective factors in each of these areas, we are reducing the risks of substance use for youth in our community.
What are we doing in the greater Saint John area?
In Saint John, we know how working together can create stronger outcomes for community members. Because of that, we ensure representation from different departments, different walks of life, and different partners within our coalition. We have representation from the Horizon Health Network, our local community police force, school districts, the Boys and Girl Club, Public Health New Brunswick, New Brunswick Social Pediatrics, Bee Me Kids, and many more.
Youth voices are very important as we move forward with this initiative. We are committed to continue to listen to those voices as we move this project forward.
