Commitments

Stabilizing our classrooms

  • Retain and recruit teachers, support professionals, educational assistants, and bus drivers, leading to a better environment for all education professionals. We will:
    • Improve working conditions for all education professionals, prioritizing support and wellness.
    • Increase financial support for those entering education professions.
  • Develop a fresh 10-year plan with teachers and other education professionals, experts, and parents to set a collective vision for education.

    Public consultations are underway to guide development of its next education plans. Materials for the anglophone and francophone sectors are available online.

  • Support inclusive education for all students by reviewing class composition and identifying and filling the staffing, training, and resourcing gaps impacting the effective implementation of Policy 322.


Nourishing kids, nourishing minds


Thriving in the classroom

  • Ensure schools have adequate staffing, spaces, and resources to provide classroom support in literacy, numeracy, and learning behaviours, which will provide students with more small group or one-on-one practice.

    Progress and measurement: IN PROGRESS

    On April 28, 2025, government announced education investments to return more teachers into classrooms and support students.

  • Provide staff and students with the necessary tools to create a positive learning environment while properly utilizing personal electronic devices and other technologies.
  • Continue grade one early French immersion and expand access points for grade six entry.

    Progress and measurement: IN PROGRESS

    On July 1, 2025, government revised Policy 309- French Second Language Instruction (PDF 157 KB) to continue grade one early French immersion and expand access points for grade six entry.

  • Implementing the child and youth advocate recommendations on Policy 713

    Progress and measurement: COMPLETE

    On December 19, government revised Policy 713 - Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity to incorporate recommendations of the child and youth advocate, students, families and 2SLGBTQIA+ stakeholders.
