Overview

New Brunswick agriculture is a diverse industry with more than 30 commodities being produced. Many producers are engaged in more than one sector and many sectors have sub-sectors within their group. Important notes for all new agricultural producers to New Brunswick:


Some sectors require registration with their commodity boards, and some require a levy or quota to produce and/or sell the product. It is important to check with your commodity to see what is required before you start production. Currently, all supply-managed commodities (dairy, eggs, chicken, turkey), potatoes, apples, beef, hogs, blueberries and cranberries require levies to be paid to their respective associations.

Livestock

Information about producing livestock commodities, such as dairy, poultry, broilers, turkey, beef, swine, sheep and goats.

Crops

Information about producing various crops, such as potatoes, tree fruit, small fruits, vegetables, grains and oilseed crops.

Specialty farm operations

Information about specialty commodities, such as greenhouse, beekeeping, christmas tree, fur, maple syrup and industrial hemp.
