Agri-food inspector

Agri-food inspectors play an integral role in the safety and quality of New Brunswick’s milk supply. They perform inspections and audits at dairy farms and plants as well as abattoirs and bulk milk tanker trucks to ensure they comply with legislation and food safety standards.

Other responsibilities of agri-food inspectors include:

Providing guidance to producers and processors on food safety and dairy heard health;
Obtaining samples for testing; and
Enforcing regulations under New Brunswick's Public Health Act and Natural Products Act.

This specialized role requires a diploma in agriculture from an agricultural college, technical institute or university.

Public Health Inspector

Public Health Inspectors promote and protect environmental public health. They work to prevent illness by ensuring that environments, facilities, and the systems people rely on every day are safe, sanitary and comply with Public Health acts and regulations. If you are good at prioritizing tasks, have great interpersonal skills and enjoy having a different work plan every day, then a career as a Public Health Inspector may be for you!

Some of the key responsibilities include:

Inspecting restaurants, public markets, grocery stores, daycare centers, adult and children residential facilities, and other public places;

Enforcing provincial acts and regulations, preparing compliance orders, remediating or closing non‑compliant operations;
Working with other agencies to respond to public health emergencies (e.g. boil water advisories, flood recovery).
