The EEO Program, established in 1984, fosters a more inclusive and representative workforce that mirrors the diversity of the province. By addressing employment barriers and offering tailored support to members of designated equity groups, the program promotes equity and opportunity for all.

At GNB, fostering diversity and inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. To advance our mission, we’ve developed a comprehensive Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program designed to create opportunities and break down barriers. To ensure the program is seamlessly integrated, each department has a dedicated EEO Coordinator. These coordinators play a pivotal role in championing the EEO Program within their departments and school districts, ensuring its reach and effectiveness. Once registered with the EEO Program, candidates gain the ability to apply for exclusive "in-service" competitions, opening doors to rewarding careers and growth within GNB.

From 2020-2025, GNB hired 1,081 clients registered with EEO (as of February 2026), demonstrating its ongoing commitment to supporting job seekers. 

To qualify for the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program, applicants must belong to one of the following designated groups:

Indigenous Peoples: Individuals who are members of a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit community and who identify with an Indigenous community culturally or linguistically. Métis refers to individuals with Indigenous ancestry who self-identify as Métis and are recognized by the Métis Nations. Inuit are the Indigenous Peoples of Northern Canada.

Persons with Disabilities: Individuals with long-term or recurring health conditions that impact the type or amount of activity they can perform in the workplace. This includes physical, intellectual, sensory, psychiatric, or learning disabilities.

Members of Visible Minorities: Individuals in Canada, excluding Indigenous Peoples, who are non-Caucasian. Some members of visible minority groups are Canadian-born, while others have immigrated from other countries.

• Submit required information and/or documents (if needed)
• Allow up to five days for your application to be reviewed
• Eligible candidates will receive a letter confirming that their registration has been approved within five days

Note: The EEO team will assess potential barriers and provide support to help address them. However, clients are still responsible for applying for available jobs or positions.
