Minister observes children creating with technology
Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Serge Rousselle recently visited children participating in the #CodeKids program at the Fredericton Public Library. This program is a pilot project that gives children between the ages of five and 12 the opportunity to learn computer programing and transformative technology, as well as to become digitally literate. In Fredericton, 16 children are taking part in the program, which is offered by the Fredericton Public Library in partnership with Brilliant Labs. Using Makey Makeys and Raspberry Pi micro controllers, the children develop digital stories with a physical and interactive component; for example, banana graphics that play sounds or characters that can interact with readers of a story. In the photo, children demonstrate their stories to Rousselle.
