The two Regional Health Authorities provide Rehabilitation Services.
Individuals who have been admitted to the Extra-Mural Program (EMP), to healthcare facilities as inpatients or referred for outpatient services.
Rehabilitation Services provide opportunities for New Brunswickers to prevent, eliminate or adapt to loss of function in order to foster well-being, social integration and optimal independence. The objectives of rehabilitation are met through the collaboration of a number of service providers, each offering a diverse range of skills and knowledge. Each provider brings specific expertise which can be matched with the particular needs of the client. Rehabilitation services in New Brunswick include services offered by audiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists. Rehabilitation services are offered in a variety of settings. Services are offered at the tertiary care centre, (Stan Cassidy Rehabilitation Centre) on both an in-patient and outpatient basis; at hospitals around the province on both an in-patient and outpatient basis; and in a variety of primary or community care settings ranging from in the home, schools, nursing homes, special care homes, via the Extra-Mural Program.
