Community Centre Retrofit Program to Commemorate Canada 150
Climate change is an issue of concern for New Brunswicker’s and as such, the Province has developed a strategy to Transitioning to a Low-carbon Economy. In an effort to support our regions work towards this goal a Community Centre Retro-fit Program has been developed.
The Regional Development Corporation is assigned authority to provide a contribution of up to $25,000 to eligible Community Centres for retro-fit projects for energy and efficiency purposes. The goal will be to make buildings energy efficient by utilizing cleaner, low-emission energy and/or reducing energy waste.
The project would support Community Centres to retro-fit its buildings. Eligible items will include siding, insulation, doors and windows, lights, heating systems and electrical panels for generators.
The details of the retro-fit and associated cost estimates must be submitted by May 12, 2017 and projects must be completed by March 31, 2018. Communities receiving financial assistance under this Program will not be eligible for financing under the Family and Youth Community Assistance Program for the year in question.
Each of the eligible Community Centres will receive a contribution of up to 100% to a maximum of $25,000 for eligible project costs of approved projects.
