Physicians – Phase-out Program
This program provides physicians an opportunity to find a replacement, of the same specialty, for their full time practice and continue to provide services within the region, while reducing their level of professional activities.
Physicians participating in this program :
• Must be in a fee-for-service payment arrangement
• Must have a Full Time Equivalency of at least .60 in fee-for-service earnings in each of the past two fiscal years.
• Must want to reduce their level of professional activities.
Physicians can participate in the Phase-out program for a maximum of five (5) years. Physicians participating in this program will be required to give up their position at the end of the five (5) years or upon final retirement, whichever comes first.
Physicians must comply with a remuneration limit with respect to the total income earned on a fee-for-service basis. Eligible amounts are determined based on previous level of activities and applicable maximum benchmark.
Excluded from the remuneration limit are any earnings the physicians make under any locum tenens or sessional basis.
Physicians participating in this program are required to sign a contract.
Physicians interested in participating in this program, should contact this department and the Medical Affairs Office of the Regional Health Authority to request the establishment of such an arrangement and confirm eligibility.
