Overview

The Writing Test assesses your writing proficiency in French second language. The test is divided into 4 parts which consists of the following; multiple choice and find the error, complete missing word, three essay questions and translating a text. A Certificate of Proficiency is issued within 10 business days of the evaluation and remains valid for 5 years

Eligibility

The evaluation service is available to all New Brunswick residents and non-residents who need proof of writing proficiency for employment or for admission to a post-secondary institution in New Brunswick.

Description

The Writing Proficiency Evaluation takes approximately 1½ hours, including administration time, during which time you are given the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to write the target language. The evaluation is done in person and any applicable travel costs are the individual’s responsibility.
If you wish to have a writing proficiency evaluation, you must send a completed application form, along with a $45 money order payable to the Minister of Finance, to the Department. Upon receipt of the request and payment, you will be contacted to set up an evaluation date.
