School – The Link Program (Youth Support Services)
A program aimed at assisting youth (grades 6-12) who are experiencing any kind of life challenges by providing an opportunity to access help through a resource person.
All students in grades 6-12 who attend New Brunswick public schools that participate in the program.
The goal of the program is to give youth, who are in grades 6 to 12 and experiencing any kind of life challenges, an opportunity to access appropriate services through a resource person who can help. It provides all teenagers with the opportunity to find a solution to his/her difficulties before they lead to more severe ones, as well as helping youth to acquire new coping skills and build resiliency.
The program originated in the Grand Falls area with the assistance of the Club Richelieu. Further expansion of the program to all schools (grades 6-12) is part of the implementation of the Provincial Wellness Strategy. The program was also identified as an action in the When Kids Come First Strategy. (See related links)
