Home Energy Assistance Program
To assist low-income families to cope with high energy costs, the government of New Brunswick has committed to extend the Home Energy Assistance Program over the next 5 years. For 2014, the program provides a benefit of $100 to families whose total income for 2012 was $28,000 or less.
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Maintain a principal place of residence (home) within New Brunswick at the time of application
• Have had a total family income (applicant and spouse or common-law partner) of $28,000 or less in 2012
• Be a resident of New Brunswick as of December 31, 2012 and have filed a 2012 New Brunswick Income Tax Return
The deadline to apply was June 30, 2014. Application forms for the 2015 benefit will be available December 2014.
