Freshwater Aquaculture Site Assessment and Business Plan Development Program

Overview
The purpose of the program is to provide incentive for new and existing freshwater land based aquaculture operations by minimizing costs during the initial phase of developing an aquaculture operation or by increasing productivity through the adoption of improved technologies.
Eligibility
Any individual or legally incorporated company in the Province of New Brunswick and holding proof of property ownership or a lease agreement for the proposed site may apply.
Applicants must conform to the requirements of all Federal and Provincial regulatory bodies and agencies, in particular, with respect to the assessment of water quality and quantity guidelines established by the New Brunswick Department of Environment. Proposed species for culture must comply with licencing policies.
Description
This program applies to both new development and expansion of land based aquaculture facilities proposing to achieve a minimum annual production deemed viable by the Department and consisting of three components:
1. Water Quality and Quantity Testing
2. Site Plan/Business Plan Preparation
3. Technology Improvement
