    Description

The Fisheries Management and Operations Branch is a strong advocate of provincial fisheries interests. It also provides policy directions for a variety of issues pertaining to commercial fisheries.

Branch personnel work in three regional offices, in the Northeast (Caraquet), Southeast (Bouctouche) and Southwest (St. George and Grand Manan) as well as the Head Office in Fredericton. Those staff work closely with industry and institutional and government stakeholders to ensure the maximum value is derived from the harvesting of fisheries resources by encouraging and supporting the establishment of a sustainable and competitive sector.

A variety of extension services are provided to maintain continued access to Atlantic fisheries resources in cooperation with industry and government partners, and to promote responsible fishing, sustainable development, and habitat and resource enhancement activities
