Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick
Public Legal Education and Information Service is a non-profit organization that is mandated to provide the public with law information resources. PLEIS-NB receives funding and in-kind support from this Department and the New Brunswick Law Foundation and Justice Canada.
The majority of products on the law are available to the public at SNB offices, libraries around the province, and on the PLEIS-NB website. Hard copies of booklets are also available from PLEIS-NB free of charge in quantities under 50. There is a fee payable for some workshops and training sessions, to obtain certain the family law guides, such as Doing Your Own Divorce, as well as to acquire PLEIS-NB videos.
PLEIS-NB produces plain language educational products and services about the law in order to promote access to the legal system. The goal is to assist the public in identifying and understanding their legal rights and responsibilities with a view to improving their ability to deal with legal matters. PLEIS-NB offers over 200 booklets on a wide range of law information topics, operates a speaker's bureau, a video lending library, a family law toll-free line (1-888-236-2444), family violence and the law training sessions, and various workshops and special projects.
