Investment of $395,000 in NBCC Saint Andrews campus13 February 2018
SAINT ANDREWS (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $395,000 in infrastructure improvements at the Saint Andrews campus of the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC).
“Your government is investing to improve the quality, accessibility and affordability of university and college education in New Brunswick,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “This investment in the Saint Andrews campus of the NBCC will improve the learning environment and create good construction jobs.”
A total of $2.4 million has been earmarked for infrastructure improvements at the college’s campuses in Miramichi, Moncton, Saint John and Saint Andrews.
“The upgrades at the NBCC Saint Andrews campus are essential to creating healthy learning spaces for NBCC students and staff,” said Lisa Taylor, the college’s vice-president of finance and administration. “Infrastructure investments are important as NBCC seeks to welcome more learners to our college.”
“These necessary infrastructure improvements help community colleges provide the best level of support to their students to position them to be able to give back to the New Brunswick economy,” said Post-Secondary Education Minister Roger Melanson.
The government continues to make record investments in education. This year, $1.258 billion will be invested in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, a 6.1 per cent increase from 2017-18 and a nearly 16 per cent increase since 2014-15.
The government recently announced an investment of $1.6 million in the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick’s infrastructure as part of its 2018-19 capital budget.13-02-18
