PARIS (GNB) – Premier Brian Gallant met with global leaders in London and Paris this week to discuss New Brunswick’s energy sector and cybersecurity centre of excellence.

Gallant addressed the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce’s Energy Forum and participated in the London Energy Roundtable Conference. He spoke about opportunities for New Brunswick’s energy sector, as well as energy efficiency and growth of renewable resources. He also engaged with global and industry leaders on best practices for combatting climate change.

“Energy is an important part of New Brunswick’s economy,” said Gallant. “With our infrastructure, geographical advantage and strong workforce, New Brunswick has the ability to continue to be a major energy player in many markets.”

The premier also spoke at the ESG School of Commerce in Paris. He discussed New Brunswick’s role as a leader in cybersecurity and highlighted strategic and economic reasons why the province is a good place to do business.

“By continuing to develop our cybersecurity centre of excellence, we will create economic growth and jobs here in New Brunswick,” said Gallant.

While in London and Paris, Gallant also met with:

  • senior executives of Barclay
  • senior executives of CBS
  • representatives of Glencore
  • Antoine Bouvier, CEO of MBDA Missiles
  • Abdou Diouf, former president of Senegal and former Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie

Following meetings in Paris, Gallant is travelling to Madagascar to attend the 16th Francophonie Summit.
