Alberta fire: NB Liquor partners with Canadian Red Cross and raises $154,94709 May 2016
FREDERICTON (GNB) – In response to the crisis in Fort McMurray, Alta., NB Liquor partnered with the Canadian Red Cross to raise funds for the relief efforts from the wildfires. The campaign raised $154,947.
“A special thank you to all the New Brunswickers who participated in our prompt-at-cash campaign for the Fort McMurray fire response,” said Brian Harriman, president and CEO of NB Liquor. “The generosity you have shown is truly to be commended. I am overwhelmed by this great response to the call to action and thank our store staff for all their continued efforts.”
From May 5 to May 8, the public was able to support the Canadian Red Cross disaster fund by making a donation at any of the 44 NB Liquor corporate stores.
“This is truly remarkable,” said Bill Lawlor, director of the Canadian Red Cross in New Brunswick. “I am continually awestruck by the generosity of New Brunswickers. I have been doing this for 18 years and never have I ever seen this amount raised so quickly. I cannot thank NB Liquor enough for this tremendous support and providing this opportunity for their customers to contribute to the Alberta fires appeal.”
New Brunswickers looking to help can do so financially online or by calling toll-free at 1-800-418-1111. A $5-donation can be added to your phone bill by texting the word “redcross” to 30333.
