FREDERICTON (GNB) – The names of the mover and seconder for the speech from the throne were announced today by Government House Leader Hédard Albert.

Shippagan-Lamèque-Miscou MLA Wilfred Roussel will move the acceptance of the throne speech during the opening of the first session of the 58th legislature on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The motion will be seconded by Miramichi Bay-Neguac MLA Lisa Harris.

“As government house leader, I am pleased that Wilfred and Lisa will help us begin our first legislative session as the mover and seconder of our speech from the throne,” said Albert. “Our government’s focus will be on job creation, balancing the books, and making our province the best place to raise a family. New Brunswickers can expect to see measures and initiatives during this session that will help move our province forward.”

Roussel was elected to the legislative assembly on Sept. 22, 2014. He is the former mayor of LeGoulet, and was also the president of the Acadian Peninsula Regional Service Commission.

Harris was elected to the legislative assembly on Sept. 22, 2014. She is the former deputy mayor of the City of Miramichi and served on a number of local and provincial boards, councils and action groups. She was appointed Deputy Speaker of the legislative assembly on Oct. 7.
