Minister welcomes students and staff back for the new school year04 September 2012
FREDERICTON (GNB) – Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Jody Carr today issued the following statement:
I welcome back all New Brunswick teachers, educational support staff and students as we begin a new school year. I hope your summer vacations were full of well-deserved rest, and that you are looking forward to the year ahead.
Our focus is always on our children and how we can make the greatest difference for them. Each child deserves the chance to succeed as we build our province together. We are working to ensure each child receives the support to reach their full potential in a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Over the past few months, school district staff have been working hard to ensure a seamless transition for school staff and students as we begin the school year with seven new districts. In restructuring our school districts, we are putting increased support in the right places to best serve students, teachers, principals and our support staff.
I thank the district personnel and all the devoted teachers, parents, school staff and district education council members for their unwavering dedication to our children's success.
As our children are going back to school, I also want to remind New Brunswickers to drive safely. Follow school zone speed limits and keep watchful for children as they walk or wait for the bus. When the red lights on a school bus are flashing, stop and remain stopped until they stop flashing. Do not pass a school bus while its lights are flashing, as children may be crossing the road.
I wish all students and staff a great school year as we continue to work together to provide the best opportunities for our children to succeed.
