Provincial, federal governments invest in Edmundston woodworking company10 August 2012
EDMUNDSTON (GNB) – The provincial and federal governments are making a combined investment of $379,424 to help Ébénisterie Tech Design Woodworking Inc. in Edmundston improve its manufacturing facility and plant operations.
"A stronger economy is a vital part of the provincial government's plan for rebuilding New Brunswick," said Health Minister Madeleine Dubé. "This investment will allow the operation to undergo important improvements and increase its production."
Dubé was speaking on behalf of Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud.
"Our government's top priorities are jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians," said Bernard Valcourt, associate minister of national defence and minister of state (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency [ACOA]) (La Francophonie). "Our investments will help Ébénisterie Tech Design Woodworking Inc. acquire a new manufacturing facility that will allow the company to improve its efficiency and the quality of its products. By supporting projects such as these, we are investing in the future of Madawaska, making it a better place to live, work and raise a family."
The provincial government is investing $94,300 through the Northern New Brunswick Economic Development and Innovation Fund and $60,000 through the NB Growth Program. The federal government is investing a repayable contribution of $192,647 through ACOA's Business Development Program and a non-repayable contribution of $32,477. Ébénisterie Tech Design Woodworking Inc. is contributing $160,053.
The provincial and federal investments will help the company acquire new manufacturing space and support key improvements including training for staff in leading-edge lean manufacturing processes.
"The financial support provided by the federal and provincial governments is very important to the achievement of our current and future projects while improving the quality of our products," said Patrick Ouellette, company president and owner. "Our top goal has always been to increase the productivity of the company and remain competitive as we continue to maintain and increase the number of jobs.”
Ébénisterie Tech Design Woodworking Inc. is in its fourth year of operation and has achieved steady growth. It has carved a niche in the commercial and institutional furniture manufacturing industry while being an active subcontractor in the manufacturing of wooden components.
