FREDERICTON (GNB) – Xplornet Communications Inc. is creating 55 full-time jobs at its customer care centre in Fredericton with the help of an investment from the provincial government.
Fredericton-Nashwaaksis MLA Troy Lifford, appearing on behalf of Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud, and Allison Lenehan, chief strategy officer of Xplornet Communications Inc., made the announcement today at the opening of the company’s newly expanded offices in Fredericton.
"Our government has made supporting the growth of the province's information and communications technology sector one of its priorities," said Lifford. "We are proud to support Xplornet Communications Inc. alongside with its investors as it continues to grow beyond our borders and provide quality employment in our province."
Invest NB is investing up to $484,000 through payroll rebates, enabling the company to create 55 full-time jobs in addition to its current base of employees. The new jobs are expected to contribute $1.6 million to the province’s gross domestic product this year.
"This announcement caps a momentous week for our company," said Lenehan. "Our new 4G broadband satellite was launched last week. Late this summer, it will start serving rural New Brunswick residents and businesses. We have expanded our Fredericton location. And, finally, we are very pleased to be working with the Province of New Brunswick to grow in this market, which offers so many highly qualified and motivated employees."
