New Brunswick Disability Awareness Week23 May 2012
DIEPPE (GNB) – The launch of the 25th annual New Brunswick Disability Awareness Week will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 26, at Dieppe city hall.
The agenda includes welcoming remarks, speeches by dignitaries, presentation of provincial award winners, booth displays and a barbecue. The Dieppe Accessibility Advisory Committee is hosting the event.
New Brunswick Disability Awareness Week will run until June 2. The slogan this year is Ready and Able to Work!
New Brunswick Disability Awareness Week, established after Rick Hansen completed his Around the World Wheelchair Marathon tour, is intended to help draw attention to the positive potential of persons with disabilities and to celebrate ongoing improvements to include all persons with disabilities.
The campaign also serves to highlight those barriers and challenges that still remain that prevent children and adults with disabilities from full participation in all aspects of social and economic opportunities.
