Web portal for credit transfers launched15 March 2012
FREDERICTON (GNB) – A new web-based portal will help students transfer their academic credits between universities and colleges based in New Brunswick. The provincial government launched the New Brunswick Credit Transfer Portal today.
"Credit transfers from one post-secondary intuition to another can be a time-consuming and complicated exercise for students and institutions,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Martine Coulombe. “This new web-based product will simplify the process. We believe the portal will reduce the maze of paperwork and roadblocks so students can receive timely credit information throughout their education journey."
The portal was developed through the New Brunswick Council on Articulations and Transfer, an advisory group composed of government officials and academic institutions that work to smooth the transition from one institution to another. The web portal is one of the activities it has undertaken to achieve its mandate.
"There are many reasons why a student may wish, or need, to transfer and move,” said Coulombe. “Our goal is to make that transition easier. In doing so, we are encouraging students to complete their post-secondary education.”
The web-based transfer tool will benefit students, counsellors, university and college staff, parents and anyone seeking to pursue a post-secondary education. It is available to students wishing to transfer within and between New Brunswick institutions. Interprovincial credit transfers will be gradually added to the portal.
