MONCTON (CNB) – The new francophone Moncton North School will be built on Ryan Road in Moncton.
Education Minister Roland Haché unveiled the location today while visiting the site with parents, students and representatives from School District 1.
“This is an exciting day as we continue to invest and make the changes required to modernize New Brunswick's schools," said Haché. “By creating technology-rich schools and environments where learning is student-driven and project-based, students will be more engaged in their learning and prepared for success in the 21st century."
The acquisition of the property is another step leading to the construction of the school, which is intended to respond to growth in the surrounding community. It will accommodate 650 students from kindergarten to Grade 8.
The minister also met with parents, students and School District 2 representatives to discuss the new school planned for Riverview. A potential site has been identified and is awaiting the results of an environmental assessment. It will accommodate 650 students from kindergarten to Grade 8. Two schools will close when the new one opens in 2012.
