FREDERICTON (CNB) - The following is released by River Watch 2008 and the Department of Public Safety's New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization on Friday, May 23:

Dates for garbage collection for residents affected by recent flooding in the Maugerville/Jemseg region have been extended to Friday, May 30.

Regular waste collection contractors will do special collections for flood-related waste in local service districts. Items should be placed at the roadside.

Waste includes appliances (remove doors and covers for safety), furniture, carpeting, insulation, paper products, etc. Small loose items should be bagged or boxed.

Hazardous materials (for example: petroleum and propane tanks, chemical containers, dead animal carcasses, etc.) will not be accepted. Avoid contact with any hazardous material.

For information on disposing of hazardous materials, contact a regional office of the Department of Environment.

Regular household waste will be collected as usual, and should be placed separately from flood-related items. Following are the details on special debris pick-up for the local service districts in the Maugerville/Jemseg region:
