FREDERICTON (GNB) – Premier Brian Gallant, the minister responsible for Women’s Equality for the provincial government, will host his counterparts at the Atlantic Ministers Forum on the Status of Women in Fredericton from Feb. 7 to 9.

“It is a great pleasure for New Brunswick to host our colleagues to speak about women’s equality,” Gallant said.

Discussions will include the impact of violence against women on the workplace, as well as a comprehensive conversation on supporting and providing employers with a framework for identifying and taking action on gender diversity in their workplace. This is the first time New Brunswick has hosted this forum in six years.

The province recently launched its Family Plan Framework document, which includes a focus on advancing women’s equality to recruit more women to positions of influence, enhance gender equality and remove barriers to access and opportunities.

“We are listening and getting things done to advance and promote the status of women,” said Gallant. “Your government will continue to work day in and day out to ensure that women’s and gender equality issues are addressed.”
