FREDERICTON (GNB) – Premier Brian Gallant will travel to Ottawa for meetings with a number of federal cabinet ministers this week.

The economy is expected to be the main area of focus during these meetings.

“Your government’s multi-year economic growth plan lays out the investments to be made to grow the economy, create jobs and put more money in the pockets of New Brunswickers,” said Gallant. “These meetings are an opportunity to find ways that we can work with the federal government to spur economic growth in our province.”

While in Ottawa, Gallant will meet with Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor; Canadian Heritage Minister Mélanie Joly; Finance Minister Bill Morneau; Families, Children and Social Development Minister Jean-Yves Duclos; Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr; and Status of Women Minister Maryam Monsef.

“Economic growth has a direct impact on areas that are a priority for New Brunswickers, including health care, education and people’s quality of life,” said Gallant. “By working with our federal counterparts, we can find ways to overcome the challenges we face and seize the opportunities on the horizon.”
