The Department is responsible for advancing the use of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) in New Brunswick. PLAR is a priority in two of the Government's Quality Learning Agendas, post-secondary education and Adult and Lifelong Learning.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition is a process that enables adults to identify their learning strengths and gaps, and to see that their learning is transferable to meeting new challenges and opportunities.
