An individual desiring certification as a journeyperson in New Brunswick is required to meet one of the following criteria:
• Completion of an Apprenticeship Program
A Diploma of Apprenticeship and a Certificate of Qualification will be issued to graduates upon successful completion of an apprenticeship program. In an interprovincial occupation/trade, an Interprovincial Red Seal will be affixed to the Diploma of Apprenticeship and the Certificate of Qualification.
• Occupational Experience (Time in Occupation/Trade)
A Certificate of Qualification will be issued upon proof of required practical experience, payment of the prescribed fee, and successful writing of the certification examination. In an interprovincial occupation/trade, an Interprovincial Red Seal will be affixed to the Certificate of Qualification.
• Interprovincial Status / Equivalent Standards
A Certificate of Qualification will be issued without further examination upon proof of provincial and/or interprovincial status from another Canadian jurisdiction and payment of the prescribed fee.
