FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following message was issued by Justice and Public Safety Minister Denis Landry in recognition of National Police Week, May 13-19:

National Police Week is a time to honour and reflect on the service and sacrifice of police officers whose commitment is to serve and protect our communities. New Brunswick has a deep appreciation for our police officers, for both those who have fallen and those who continue to serve with courage and dedication.

We rely on police officers every day and I would like to recognize them for their unselfish willingness to risk their own safety to protect ours as they perform their demanding and often dangerous duties with professionalism and pride. I would also like to acknowledge their families and loved ones who experience daily the worry and sacrifice that accompanies having a loved one serving as a police officer.

On behalf of the provincial government, I would like to express sincere gratitude to the women and men policing this province, and to those who support them, for their valuable contribution towards our communities and maintaining New Brunswick as the best place to live, work and raise a family.
