FREDERICTON (GNB) – The Child Death Review Committee has reviewed the death of a child whose family was known to the Department of Social Development. The results of the review were released today by Chief Coroner Gregory Forestell.
The committee reviews the deaths of children under the age of 19, including those who were in the legal care of the minister of Families and Children, or whose families were in contact with the Department of Social Development within 12 months before the child's death.
The review was into the death of a nine-year-old boy who died naturally from aspiration pneumonia as a consequence of a degenerative neurological disorder. The deceased was receiving services from the Family Supports for Children with Disabilities program. The committee did not make any recommendations in this case.
