Government of New Brunswick
Co-chair (Non-Profit)
Roger Martin

Roger Martin is a retired social worker. He had a very full career: social worker, director of the Neguac office of the Department of Health and Community Services, and director of the Carrefour Beausoleil school and community centre in Miramichi.

His career in the non-profit sector has been just as prolific. At the moment, he is the president of the Association francophone des ainés du Nouveau-Brunswick, vice-chair of the Francophone sud school district education council, and a member of the board of directors of the Fédération des conseils d’éducation du Nouveau-Brunswick. In addition, he sits on the Horizon Health Network’s French Services Liaison Committee and is a member of many other organizations.

Positions held by Roger include founding president of the Cercle français de Miramichi, chair of the District 53 school board, chair of the Conseil communautaire Beausoleil in Miramichi, and president of the Mouvement acadien des communautés en santé.

Honours received by Roger include the A.M. Sormany recognition award from the Société de l’Acadie du Nouveau-Brunswick for his contribution to the development of French in Miramichi and in New Brunswick and an award from the Fédération des conseils d’éducation du Nouveau-Brunswick for his contribution to the advancement of education in Miramichi and the province.

He was named the Radio-Canada/L’Acadie Nouvelle Personality of the Week in 2012, and a street in Miramichi was named after him.

Roger is particularly enthusiastic about the idea of participating in the provincial Poverty Reduction Strategy. He believes the issues identified by the Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation are critical, and he has the professional and personal experience required to help improve the wellness of New Brunswickers.
