PERTH-ANDOVER (GNB) – Renovations to the gymnasium at Southern Victoria High School are complete.

“Your government understands the importance of modernizing our school infrastructure so we can offer our students the best learning environment possible,” said Environment and Local Government Minister Andrew Harvey. “Investing in education is crucial for our economy and for the health of our families.”

Harvey spoke on behalf of Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny.

The government invested $1 million in these upgrades as part of the 2017-18 capital budget.

The gymnasium floor was replaced, new bleachers were installed, the change rooms were relocated, and renovations were done to the existing storage room and instructor’s office.

The 2018-19 capital budget includes investments of $105.8 million in schools.

The government’s 10-year education plans aim to improve educational outcomes and better prepare young people for the future. They set objectives in priority areas to create lifelong learners, support educational leaders and bring stability to the system.
