SAINTE-ANNE DE MADAWASKA (GNB) – The 28th Provincial French Pride Week will be officially launched on Monday, March 20, at École Régionale Saint-Anne in Sainte-Anne de Madawaska. The week runs from March 20 to 24.

Students from 94 francophone schools across the province will celebrate their pride in the French language as well as their commitment to their culture. They will be supported by school staff, parents, and members of the Acadian and francophone communities. This year’s slogan, which was chosen by the students at École Le Sommet in Moncton, is Célébrons notre francophonie, ailleurs et ici, en Acadie! (let’s celebrate our francophonie, elsewhere and here, in Acadie). This year’s theme-based artwork was completed by the art committee at Cité des Jeunes A.-M.-Sormany and artist Sébastien Bérubé.

“Our students and school staff prove every day that French pride is still very much alive and well in our communities,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny. “Our students are true examples for Acadian and francophone society in New Brunswick. I thank everyone involved in the organization of this week who make it a success every year.”

Celebrations and activities will take place all week in the province’s francophone schools.

Provincial French Pride Week is organized in close co-operation with various civic, community, school and media partners and the provincial government.
