Integrated Service Delivery model expansion in Miramichi23 January 2017
MIRAMICHI (GNB) – The Integrated Service Delivery model for delivering services to children and youth who suffer from emotional, behavioural and mental health issues is now in place in the Miramichi region, with offices located at Dr. Losier Middle School.
“I am proud of the work our teams are doing to provide our children and youth with the appropriate treatment and support in their community,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “I was pleased to meet some of the exceptional team members providing these crucial services.”
Fraser spoke on behalf of Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny.
The Integrated Service Delivery model features a team of intervention and support professionals collaborating in the community to provide mental health, addiction, social and emotional support, and other services to children and youth. The teams tie together services from the departments of Education and Early Childhood Development, Social Development, Health, and Justice and Public Safety as well as school districts and regional health authorities.
The model is a component of the province’s 10-year education plans, crime reduction and harm prevention strategies, and the Mental Health Action Plan. The government has committed to expanding the model provincewide by 2018.
The Integrated Service Delivery model recently received a national 2016 IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award.
