The responsibilities under Student Services include the development, implementation and coordination of special education programming, which includes all areas of learning difficulties and learning disabilities. Student Services also encompasses other areas of support to students and to the K-12 system in the areas of comprehensive and developmental guidance and counseling, including that of career and life role development; school and district positive learning environments; students at-risk programs, including alternative educational programs; enrichment and gifted students and student leadership. Student Services personnel work with School District personnel to ensure that students are provided with support services to learning which include, among others, speech and language therapy, social work, psychology and health supports. Student Services provides consultative support to schools, school districts, and other government departments, both provincially and nationally. In addition, consultative services and support are provided to non-government agencies that render services to schools.
