Each video features a learning experience that help to reinforce simple vocabulary, counting and other skills that will enrich your child's introduction to French language and culture.

Musical exercise: Kinderpolka

Kindergarten students learn how to do the Kinderpolka in this fun exercise. In addition to learning simple vocabulary in French, students learn cross-curricular skills in music and dance by learning how to keep a rhythm, follow directions and perform simple dance steps.

Musical exercise:  La Bastringue

Grade one students enjoy exploring French culture through a traditional French dance, La Bastringue.

In addition to learning simple vocabulary in French, students learn cross-curricular skills in physical education and music by following directions, using movement to follow rhythms, and learning to keep a steady beat.

Poetry Exercise: Un escargot dans mon chapeau

In this video, Grade 1 students are introduced to a simple children's poem. Students repeat the poem in French, and are asked to identify the meaning of the words in French by drawing on their own experiences and clues in the text of the poem.

The poem is as follows:

Un escargot dans mon chapeau (A snail in my hat)
Une coccinelle sur une échelle, (A ladybug on a ladder)
Une araignée dans mon panier. (A spider in my basket).
