Government of New Brunswick

On March 15, 2011, government announced it would phase out the use of the tagline currently used on license plates.  When existing stocks of licence plates run out later this year, a new plate will be introduced.  The new licence plate will keep the same design as presently used, but will either have no tagline or a new tagline.

  • Prior to 1972, New Brunswick licence plates used the tagline “Picture Province.”
  • From 1972 to 2009, the licence plates had no tagline.
  • From 2009 to present, the licence plates have used the tagline “Be… in this place.”

In announcing that the current tagline would be phased out, Public Safety Minister Robert Trevors said government wanted “to hear from New Brunswickers on what would be a suitable tagline or whether one is even needed.”

This website presents the opportunity for New Brunswickers to share their view on whether or not the licence plates should have a tagline and, if they favour a tagline, what they would like it to be.

The consultation process on taglines for New Brunswick license plates has now concluded.

We thank New Brunswickers for their input.
