Large-scale projects were a main driver of investment from 2000 to 2010. More than $8 billion was invested in major projects.There are a number of new large-scale projects on the horizon including the Energy East pipeline and several large-scale mining and manufacturing projects, among others. These large scale projects tend to involve multiple departments of the provincial government and other government, industry and community stakeholders.
Government wants to ensure that environmental impact assessments, permits, zoning and other decision of government are made in a thorough but timely fashion. The Jobs Board Secretariat is tasked with the coordination of these large scale projects and ensuring that there is strong coordination among the government departments and other stakeholders involved in the decision making process.
