The Regional Development Corporation is the provincial Crown
Corporation that plans, coordinates and implements regional and
economic development initiatives for the Province of New Brunswick.

Mission Statement:

Working in partnership to support the development priorities of New
Brunswick.

Role & Objectives:

The primary role of the Regional Development Corporation is to work
with other governmental agencies, institutions and not-for-profit
groups to ensure that regions within New
Brunswick are provided with the necessary tools and infrastructure
required to attain their full potential in terms of community and
economic development.

The Corporation is the lead provincial agency in the planning and
negotiation of all Canada – New Brunswick economic development
and infrastructure agreements save and except for highways. The
Corporation also makes recommendations to Cabinet concerning
provincial economic development priorities.

The Regional Development Corporation is also assigned, from time to
time, specific initiatives and projects as directed by Cabinet.

Under the Regional Development Corporation Act, the mandate of RDC is to:
• administer and manage development agreements between the Province and the Government of Canada as assigned by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council;
• assist in the establishment and development of enterprises and institutions operated by corporations, trusts, partnerships, societies and individuals;
• assist in the establishment and development of facilities relating to tourism and recreation;
• assist local governments and regional service commissions in planning and developing works or projects of benefit to the general public; and
• carry out any duties assigned by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council.

Under the Regional Development Corporation Act, the mandate of the
Corporation is to:
a) administer and manage development agreements between the
Province of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada;
b) assist in the establishment and development of enterprises and
institutions operated by corporations, trusts, partnerships, societies and
individuals;
c) assist in the establishment and development of facilities relating to
tourism and recreation;
d) assist municipalities in planning and development works or projects of
benefit to the general public;
e) prepare plans for regional development;
